| About Us
| The Energy Minerals Counties Coalition is composed of four county commissioners, two conservation districts, the State of Wyoming, and a representative of the methane operators. At this time, the counties represented are Carbon (Terry Weickum), Johnson (Delbert Eitel), Sheridan (Mike Nickel) and Sweetwater (Mark Kot). The conservation districts are Campbell County (Brenda Schladweiler) and Lake DeSmet (TBD). The State is represented by the Governor's Office representative. The Methane Operators Group is represented by Dave Searle (Marathon Oil). The coalition employs an executive director, Bj Kristiansen, a registered professional geologist in the state of Wyoming. The ED is responsible for obtaining information and facilitating its flow to and from the coalition joint powers board and to interested and affected stakeholders at the local level. The goal of the coalition as a whole is effective information transfer for rationale development of hydrocarbon and related resources. | Some topics of current interest include: Protecting ownership and lease rights Preventing waste or damage to natural resources Methane (Natural Gas) Characteristics Water Resources Soils Vegetation Wildlife Improving and protecting revenue and economic well-being Providing safe working and living environments Road dust Energy resources for the 21st Century and beyond
| A partial list of the activities we are currently involved in are: Presentation of energy statistics and explanatory information to the public Landowner complaints Regulatory issues Streamlining processes for entering into production (permitting and water handling) Investigating methods for optimizing resource production and recovery and minimizing negative impacts Setting baselines from which to monitor change Monitoring air, water, and soil quality to assess change Developing mitigation measures when necessary Enhancing community resources as appropriate Effective utilization of the water resource Identifying mitigation and management procedures for the identified issues
| The coalition works in partnership with State and Federal agencies, elected officials, industry professionals, and landowners to ensure maximum benefit and minimum negative impact from timely extraction and utilization of the resource. The primary focus of the Coalition is on local issues as they relate to county residents and officials. |
